Brother of Wolfgang Hachen, (Hagen, Haga, Haggan were only other spellings)

He emigrated to America about 1750. He and his brother Wolfgang were gunsmiths. The son of Nicholas, Christian was a gunsmith as well and his sons, Jake and Sam who moved at the beginning of the 19th century to Saint Louis, Missouri and were the famous Hawken. The name Hachen has been americanized between.

Maker of Kentucky style rifles and pistols

It is believed that George Schreyer (Shreyer or Shroyer) was trained by Nicholas Hachen or George Ungefehr in or about 1755. It might be that he finished his apprenticeship with Wolfgang Hachem as Nicholas died in 1758 at the age of 40.
